Robbi Behr
Idiots' Books and Bobbledy Books

Chestertown, MD

Robbi was raised on the Alaskan tundra (summers) and in a small town on the Eastern Shore of Maryland (the rest of the year). In addition to her 35-year career as a commercial salmon fisherwoman, she has held all manner of art-related jobs, including museum docent, gallery assistant, door-to-door children’s photographer, T-shirt designer, graduate student, production designer, and freelance illustrator.

Now she is the illustrator, editor, publisher, web developer, and sanity keeper for the two small presses she runs with her husband/collaborator Matthew Swanson. One of them, Idiots’Books, publishes odd, commercially nonviable picture books for adults, and the other, Bobbledy Books, publishes children’s books and music. Robbi has illustrated 41 self-published books, as well as one book each for Chronicle and LB Kids.

Robbi holds an MFA in illustration from the Savannah College of Art and Design—and a wicked grudge against Ben and Jerry’s for discontinuing her favorite flavor, Ooey Gooey Cake.
